CONFIRMED: First glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi-Yash starrer Ramayana to be FINALLY unveiled on July 3

One of the most or arguably the most awaited films of Indian cinema, Ramayana, is more than a year away from release. However, the excitement is tremendous for it as it will tell a story that resonates deeply with Indians. Moreover, its casting has also grabbed eyeballs and further enhanced curiosity. Since a long time, there have been reports that the teaser will be released. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the unveiling of the promo is finally happening in just a few days.

The announcement promo will be launched with great fanfare on Thursday, July 3, at a multiplex in central Mumbai. As per the message sent by the publicity team to the media, the makers plan to exclusively unveil ‘Ramayana: The Introduction, the first official glimpse into the world of Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, a landmark cinematic event that sets the stage for one of the biggest films ever made’. However, there has been no information on whether the team and cast of the film will be present at this significant event.

There were speculations that the first glimpse of Ramayana will be unveiled at WAVES 2025, which was held between May 1-4, 2025. On May 5, a 2-minute 36-minute second-long title announcement video of the film was passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a ‘U’ certificate. Then, on June 23, a 3-minute video was certified by the CBFC and it was also awarded a ‘U’ certificate.

Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and KGF star Yash as Ravana. It is directed by Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal and Chhichhore fame.

At WAVES, Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus revealed that they attempt to take Ramayana to the farthest corners of the world using AI. He said, “We want to make it feel local to the world. With the use of some technology, we are attempting to localize the film in languages with performances. It means it should play in English with lip-sync; without subtitles or dubbed versions. In Spain, it should be in Spanish and in Japan, it should be in Japanese. This is possible because of technology.”

The first part of Ramayana releases in cinemas on Diwali 2026 while the second part will be out on Diwali 2027.

Subhash Ghai teases Riteish Deshmukh’s return in female avatar: “She is our next heroine”

Riteish Deshmukh’s portrayal of Sania in Apna Sapna Money Money, where he cross-dressed and adopted the persona of a woman, remains one of his most iconic comic roles. And now, it seems the actor is all set to revisit this memorable character in an upcoming film backed by veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai.

On June 30, Ghai took to his social media handle to share a still of Riteish in his female avatar from the 2006 comedy. Alongside the image, he wrote, “She is our next heroine in our forthcoming film under Mukta Arts.” He further described him as “a classic beauty.” While the filmmaker has not disclosed additional details about the project, the post has already generated excitement among fans.

It’s worth noting that Apna Sapna Money Money isn’t the only film in which Riteish has played a female character. He also took on similar disguises in Humshakals, a Sajid Khan directorial co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Ram Kapoor.

For now, fans will have to wait for more updates, but the prospect of seeing Riteish return to his beloved comic timing and cross-dressing antics has certainly created a buzz.

On the professional front, Riteish was last seen in Raid 2, where he played the antagonist opposite Ajay Devgn. He also appeared in the fifth installment of the Housefull franchise. His upcoming slate includes several exciting projects, including Masti 4.

Ibrahim Ali Khan and Rasha Thadani to headline coming-of-age romantic film: Report

Despite their debut projects receiving lukewarm responses, star kids Rasha Thadani and Ibrahim Ali Khan continue to enjoy significant popularity on social media. Now, there’s an exciting update for their fans—if reports are to be believed, the two are all set to share screen space for the first time in an upcoming film.

According to a report by Mid-Day, a source close to the production revealed, “Ibrahim and Rasha have been doing reading sessions and workshops. The makers were clear that they didn’t want just a glamorous pair, but two actors who could tap into the awkward, exhilarating energy of first love. Rasha and Ibrahim clicked from their very first meeting.” The source further added, “While he debuted with a rom-com, Ibrahim will be seen in intense roles in Sarzameen and Diler, the latter featuring him as a marathoner. After those two outings, this film—with its coming-of-age arc—will showcase a softer and more relatable side of him.”

If confirmed, this project would mark Ibrahim’s second foray into the romantic genre. His debut film Naadanaiyaan, which was released directly on Netflix, was a romantic comedy. However, his performance received mixed to negative feedback, with critics pointing out issues with his expressions, dialogue delivery, and dubbing.

On the other hand, Rasha made her debut in the theatrical release Azaad, which also introduced Ajay Devgn’s nephew, Aaman Devgn. While the film didn’t fare well at the box office, Rasha’s performance was appreciated by audiences.

It will certainly be interesting to see Rasha and Ibrahim come together for a romantic drama. As of now, there has been no official confirmation or denial from the actors or the makers. Fans will have to wait for an official announcement.

EXCLUSIVE: Makers of Maa upset with distributor due to release strategy and distribution of shows of the Kajol-starrer

The latest release, Maa, has managed to put up impressive numbers in its first two days, thanks to the casting of Kajol, the horror genre, and positive word of mouth. However, the makers are unhappy with the release strategy and distribution of the film.

A source close to the film told Bollywood Hungama, “Maa has released in around 1500 screens and ideally, a film like this should have got a screen count of around 2000. After all, it has the association of Ajay Devgn and Kajol and moreover, it is a horror film, which is the flavour of the season. Sadly, that didn’t happen and also it was noticed by the makers that the shows weren’t properly allotted across cinemas. Though it’s a horror film, it also appeals to the family as evident by its title and the U/A rating. Hence, it should have got prominent showcasing in the afternoon and evening and also overall more shows but in many places, that hasn’t happened.”

The source continued, “As a result, the makers are displeased with the arrangement. They believe that if the showcasing was fair, the collections of Maa could have been higher.”

Bollywood Hungama learned that the 4:15 pm show at PVR Sangam, Andheri, Mumbai, which recorded huge occupancy on Saturday, was discontinued on Sunday in favour of Sitaare Zameen Par. Incidentally, like Maa, Sitaare Zamaeen Par is also distributed by PVR.

An exhibition source explained, “In the Dadar-Matunga-Mahim belt, which has no multiplex and consists of single screens, all cinemas either have an afternoon show of 1:00 pm and an evening show of 7:00 pm. Ideally, the showcasing should be such that a couple of cinemas should have a show at around 4:00 pm as well because a section of the moviegoing audience might prefer to watch Maa at that time. But with the strategy in place, they don’t have that choice.”

A trade expert commented on condition of anonymity, “This week is crowded as Sitaare Zameen Par has held up well. Maa has managed to perform while F1: The Movie is also recording terrific occupancy. In such instances, show-sharing issues are bound to happen. The problem becomes manifold when the distributor overcommits and then falls short of expectations and doesn’t plan the showcasing well. In this case, PVR Inox also had to accommodate their other film, Sitaare Zameen Par. Nevertheless, the makers are bound to feel shortchanged when they don’t get the desired number of shows.”

Past instances

This isn’t the first time that PVR Inox’s distribution has come under the scanner. A few days back, Bollywood Hungama reported on how Warner Bros was also upset with the multiplex chain for not giving a reasonable number of shows to F1: The Movie. A week before, we revealed that PVR Inox backed off after assuring B and C centre theatres that they would be given Sitaare Zamaeen Par. The theatres even got the publicity material from the distribution team and at the last minute, the film wasn’t given to them, leaving them in a tough spot.

In December 2024, Baby John’s advance booking was also affected as PVR Inox Pictures had asked for 60% of showcasing for the Varun Dhawan-starrer while they asked exhibitors to allot the balance 40% of the shows to Pushpa 2 – The Rule. To the single screens, they insisted that there should be 3 shows of their film and 1 show of Pushpa 2 – The Rule. The theatres didn’t agree to this demand as the Allu Arjun-starrer was doing historic business.

Ritesh Batra returns with a love story 6 years after Photograph, shoot begins this September: Report

The acclaimed filmmaker Ritesh Batra’s is set to return to the director’s chair, six years after his last release, Photograph (2019), which starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra. As per a report in Mid-Day, Batra is gearing up to begin production on a new romantic drama—staying true to the gentle, emotional storytelling that has become his hallmark over the past 12 years. The project is expected to go on floors in September.

“Ritesh spent a considerable time writing this big romance. The film is in final prep mode,” an insider revealed to the publication. Known for delivering heartfelt Indian romantic dramas like The Lunchbox (2013) and Photograph (2019), as well as international narratives such as Our Souls at Night (2017) and The Sense of an Ending (2017), Batra is now set to bring a cross-cultural love story to life.

“It’s a mature romance between an Indian man and a foreigner. It’s the kind of sensitive drama about love and loss that Ritesh has come to be known for,” a source shared with Mid-Day. The cast for the project has already been finalized.

The project will mark Ritesh Batra’s reunion with Guneet Monga Kapoor, who was one of the producers of The Lunchbox. She returns as one of the producers on this international co-production.

Ranveer Singh to join Maddock Films’ expanding horror-comedy universe?

The unprecedented success of Stree, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, laid the foundation for Maddock Films to build its own horror-comedy universe. This cinematic world already features popular names like Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Kumar, Rashmika Mandanna, and Ayushmann Khurrana. Now, the latest buzz suggests that Ranveer Singh may also be joining this growing universe.

According to a report by Mid-Day, a source close to the production revealed, “Ranveer has been in conversations with Dinesh for a while. He was at the Maddock office last week. The makers wanted a fresh energy to drive the next chapter, and Ranveer is keen to explore the genre. The paperwork is likely to be completed soon.” The source further added, “The idea is to create an Avengers-style culmination down the road. They are discussing dates, as Ranveer will soon wrap up Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. He has also allotted dates for Don 3. This project is expected to go on floors in early 2026.”

As of now, neither Ranveer Singh nor Maddock Films has officially confirmed or denied the report. However, the possibility of seeing Ranveer enter the horror-comedy space is exciting, especially since this would mark his first project in the genre. Additionally, it has been a while since fans have seen him in a full-fledged role, with his last release being Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023.

Speaking of his current projects, Ranveer is presently shooting for Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar. The film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna. Beyond that, he also has Don 3 lined up in his upcoming slate.

Ileana D’Cruz welcomes second child, shares name and photo

Actress Ileana D’Cruz may appear less frequently on the big screen these days and rarely gives interviews. Still, she continues to keep her fans updated about her personal life, be it her pregnancy journey or the challenges of motherhood. On June 28, the actress shared yet another heartwarming update: the birth of her second child, a baby boy, with husband Michael Dolan.

For those unaware, Ileana and Michael tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in 2023 and welcomed their first child, Koa Phoenix Dolan, in August of the same year.

Taking to Instagram, Ileana shared an adorable monochrome photograph showing the newborn sleeping peacefully. Along with the picture, she wrote, “Our hearts are so full.” The image also revealed the name and birthdate of their second child, Keanu Rafe Dolan, born on June 19, 2025.

Ileana had confirmed her second pregnancy in October 2024. A few months later, she hosted an Ask Me Anything session on Instagram, during which she opened up about her parenting values. “People, and especially kids, should be taught that being cruel, wicked, unkind or selfish are not lovable traits… Love has to be earned, just like respect and happiness,” she said. She added, “I want to raise happy, healthy, kind children (I’m sure all parents do), and I will do my best to ensure that they know how loved they are.”

On the professional front, Ileana was last seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar (2024), co-starring Pratik Gandhi, Vidya Balan, and Sendhil Ramamurthy. Before that, she featured in Tera Kya Hoga Lovely (2022). ‘Kaanta Laga’ fame Shefali Jariwala passes away at 42

Shefali Jariwala, best known for her appearance in the iconic music video ‘Kaanta Laga’, passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 42.

According to news agency ANI, "Mumbai Police received information about this at 1 a.m. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. The cause of death is not yet clear." However, the All Indian Cine Workers Association has claimed that Shefali Jariwala died due to a heart attack. Fans will have to wait for an official confirmation from the authorities or her husband, actor Parag Tyagi.

The mythological-horror film Maa was released today, June 27, and it has caught attention due to the genre, trailer, concept and association of Kajol. The film begins with the mention of Sujoy Ghosh and his director-daughter Diya Annapurna Ghosh under ‘Special Thanks’. It's sure to make a lot of people curious about the same as Sujoy is not associated with the project in any capacity.

This writer, too, was very curious and reached out exclusively to Sujoy Ghosh to understand the reason behind his and Diya’s mention. Sujoy, who is currently in London, explained, “My daughter Diya held the rights to the title ‘Maa’. She wanted to make a film with that title. One day, Ajay called me and expressed the desire to have the title for his film. I asked Diya about it. She agreed to part with the title. Her script is still under development and it’ll take time before her film can go on floors. On the other hand, Ajay and his team were all set to roll. Hence, we decided to live and let live (smiles).”

He added, “We’ll now think of some other title for our film.”

Sujoy Ghosh also revealed, “Diya is a fan of Ajay Devgn. We are also his fans. Diya was bowled over by the fact that Ajay Devgn asked her for the title rights. It was a true fan moment for her (laughs).”

Maa is backed by Jio Studios and Devgn Films and is directed by Vishal Furia. It also stars Ronit Roy, Kherin Sharma, Indraneil Sengupta and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in leading roles.

Diya Annapurna Ghosh, meanwhile, debuted as a director with the Zee5 flick Bob Biswas (2021) starring Abhishek Bachchan and Chitrangda Singh. It was a spin-off to the 2012 acclaimed thriller, Kahaani, which was incidentally directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

As for Sujoy Ghosh, he last directed Jaane Jaan (2023), starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat. It dropped directly on Netflix and was one of the most-viewed films on the streaming giant that year.

Emraan Hashmi resumes OG shooting after dengue recovery

Emraan Hashmi, who was diagnosed with dengue on May 28 while filming his upcoming pan-Indian film They Call Him OG, has recovered and is back on set. He has resumed shooting in Mumbai.

Emraan Hashmi shared, “I am back in action, and it feels good! I took some time off to recover from dengue, but now I am fully recovered and back on set. A big thank you to everyone for all the love and thoughtful messages! I am excited to get back to the hustle and bring something exciting to the screen soon.”

It is worth mentioning here that Bollywood Hungama was the first publication to report on Emraan's health. A well-placed industry source told us, "Emraan Hashmi was shooting for OG in Aarey Colony, Goregaon, Mumbai. That’s where he contracted the disease. He was not feeling well and had dengue-like symptoms. On the recommendation of the doctors, he got his tests done. The test confirmed that he is suffering from dengue."

Speaking of the project, OG will mark Emraan Hashmi’s debut in Telugu cinema. The film also stars Pawan Kalyan in the leading role, along with Priyanka Mohan as the female lead. Meanwhile, Emraan will essay the role of the antagonist. OG is all set to release in cinemas worldwide on September 25. It is produced by DVV Entertainment of RRR (2022) fame and directed by Sujeeth of Saaho (2019) fame.

EXCLUSIVE: No cuts, no ‘A’ rating - Kajol-starrer Maa is a RARE horror film to be awarded with a U/A certificate

After a fantastic last week for Bollywood thanks to the Aamir Khan-starrer Sitaare Zameen Par, the trade and industry now gears up for another exciting film, Maa. The trailer of the film caught attention due to the casting of Kajol, the horror genre, and the subject. The only concern was that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) might ask for several cuts and even after doing so, they might award an ‘A’ certificate to the film. But with this film, the CBFC has given a pleasant surprise to one and all.

As per the cut list, the CBFC has passed the film without a single audio or visual cut. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “With CBFC, one can never know. In Sitaare Zameen Par, the members asked for Michael Jackson to be replaced by ‘lovebirds’ and ‘Business Woman’ was changed to ‘Business Person’. That and the insistence on adding a quote from the Prime Minister led to a storm. Hence, the fear was that when a clean film like Sitaare Zameen Par gets such cuts, what would happen to Maa which is a horror flick.”

The source continued, “However, the CBFC’s Examining Committee didn’t cut a single shot, though a few scenes are disturbing. And that’s not all. They also allowed the film to have a U/A 16+ rating. This means that the under-18 crowd can also view this film.”

This is a rarity because most horror or supernatural films are given an ‘A’ certificate like Chhorii 2 (2025), 1920: Horrors Of The Heart (2023), Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship (2020), Amavas (2019), Ghost (2019), Tumbbad (2018) etc. The only other supernatural Hindi film of recent times which didn’t get an adults-only certificate was Shaitaan (2024); like Maa, it was also backed by Devgn Films and Jio Studios. Horror comedies, meanwhile, are passed with a U/A certificate though.

Coming back to Maa, the CBFC, however, simply asked the makers to increase the disclaimer length up to readable time and also asked them to add about "anti-girl child and human sacrifice" details. Lastly, as per the rules in force since 2021, the makers were told to mention the title of the film in Hindi as well.

Once these changes were made, the censor certificate was handed to the makers of Maa on June 20. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 135.35 minutes, that is, 2 hours 15 minutes and 35 seconds.

Maa releases in cinemas on June 27.

FWICE calls for ban on Diljit Dosanjh’s projects after Pakistani actress Hania Aamir appears in Sardaar Ji 3 trailer

After the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the Indian film industry is treading cautiously, distancing itself from collaborations with Pakistani artists. The first major casualty was Abir Gulaal, which was set to mark Fawad Khan’s much-awaited Bollywood comeback alongside Vaani Kapoor. The film was shelved just days before its release.

Another film under scrutiny is Sardaar Ji 3, starring Diljit Dosanjh. Speculation around Pakistani actress Hania Aamir’s casting in the project was confirmed when the trailer dropped on June 23. In the same announcement, the makers clarified that the film would release exclusively overseas.

However, the move sparked widespread backlash online. Several netizens criticised both Diljit and the producers for casting a Pakistani actress amid heightened tensions between the two nations, especially following Hania Aamir’s condemnation of India’s counter-operation, Operation Sindoor. Now, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has called for a complete ban on all of Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming projects.

FWICE President B.N. Tiwari told Hindustan Times, "By working with a Pakistani actor, Diljit has hurt Indian sentiments. He has disrespected the nation’s emotions and insulted the sacrifices of our brave soldiers. His preference for Pakistani talent over Indian artists raises serious questions about his loyalty and priorities."

He added, "We are aware that the film is not being released in India. But if they plan to do so in the future, we will oppose it and call for a ban. For now, the overseas release stands. That being said, Diljit’s collaboration with a Pakistani actor is something we cannot overlook. We have demanded a strict ban on all of his upcoming films, songs, or any other projects. The producers of Sardaar Ji 3 are also included in this ban."

Sardaar Ji 3 features Neeru Bajwa, Jasmin Bajwa, Manav Vij, and others in key roles. The film is scheduled for an overseas release on June 27.

Fire destroys Anupamaa set in Film City; AICWA demands judicial probe and FIR against makers

A massive fire broke out on the set of the popular television show Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly, early Monday morning at Film City in Mumbai. According to reports, the blaze erupted around 5 AM and completely gutted the set before it could be doused by the fire brigade after a few hours. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Visuals of the fire were shared by news agency PTI on its X (formerly Twitter) account, showing the scale of the damage. The fire broke out before the day’s shooting was scheduled to begin around 7 AM. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) confirmed that its fire brigade received an alert at around 6 AM. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

In the aftermath of the incident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) released a strongly worded statement condemning what it called the “ongoing negligence” in enforcing fire safety norms on sets. The association has demanded the immediate suspension of the Managing Director of Film City and the Labour Commissioner of Mumbai, alleging gross negligence and collusion that allow production houses to flout mandatory safety protocols.

AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta has also called upon Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to order a high-level judicial inquiry into the incident. In a separate post on X, AICWA further alleged the possibility of deliberate arson for insurance fraud, demanding that the probe also look into whether the fire was intentionally set by the producers or the channel to claim insurance money.

The association has gone a step further, urging authorities to file a criminal FIR against the producers, the production house, the broadcasting channel, the Film City MD, and the Labour Commissioner. It has also demanded that any production house or channel found violating fire safety norms be blacklisted immediately.

Raanjhanaa fan screening: Aanand L Rai reveals how the LEGENDARY climax scene was written just HOURS before shoot: “It was our last day at Banaras; I SHOUTED at writer Himanshu Mehra…”

The fan screening of Raanjhanaa (2013) was held at a multiplex in Mumbai on the occasion of its 12th anniversary by DIY Solutions and was attended by the film’s team – actors Dhanush and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, then-child-actor Naman Jain, director Aanand L Rai, writer Himanshu Sharma and lyricist Irshad Kamil. Sonam Kapoor couldn’t make it and the team kept a picture of her on the seat. The event began with the screening of the film after which stand-up comic Devansh Singh entertained the crowd. Laksh Maheshwari, then, in his trademark style narrated the film’s story and also hosted the talk. The very final scene of the film, which shows younger Kundan and adult Kundan crossing paths and looking at each other, has achieved cult status. Aanand L Rai revealed the madness that happened on the day he shot the said scene.

Aanand L Rai was asked if the scene was a part of the script. He replied, “The emotion was always a part of it. But the visual was planned spontaneously. Himanshu and I had fought with each other! I didn’t have just that part of the climax and it was the last day of the shoot in Banaras. As always, he was confident the night before and told me, ‘Main subah tak de deta hoon’. He’ll sweetly ask me, ‘Shift kitne baje ki hai aapki?’. I told him, ‘7:00 am’ (laughs)!”

Aanand continued, “At 6:00 am, I woke him up. I knew he must have not written! Still, I asked him, ‘Did you write?’. Then, I shouted at him, ‘You have to write and give. Or else, I’ll not leave Banaras’.”

Aanand further stated, “2 hours later, he came to the shooting location. Woh waisi hi haalat mein tha jaise main usko chod ke gaya tha. I was shooting with Naman. It was the scene where he says ‘Kya apni lugaai bachane ke liye kya Ram ji khud chanda maangne aate hai?’. I asked him, ‘Did you write?’. He said, ‘Kuch kuch likha hai’. He narrated me the scene. I heard it and I knew it was what I wanted. I wanted to tell him, ‘Kya likha hai tune yaar’. But I was upset with him. Director ka ego bhi hota hai! Hence, I couldn’t praise him. Still, the moment he ended his narration, I said ‘Bahut accha’ and I walked off.”

Aanand L Rai added, “Those lines gave me the visual. I called Dhanush and asked him, ‘Will you come for an hour for the shoot after lunch?’. He agreed and he asked me what was the scene. I told him that it was just one shot for which we require him.”

Jaideep Ahlawat confirms role in Shah Rukh Khan’s King; says, “Who could say no to Shah Rukh Khan”

Jaideep Ahlawat confirmed his involvement in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King and shared how he became part of the project. He recalled, “SRK sir kaafi time se soch rahe the iss cheez ko, jaisa mujhe pata laga hai, but Siddharth Anand bhai thoda hichak rahe honge ki chota part hai to offer after Jewel Thief. But Khan saab being Khan saab, he said I’ll talk to him. Ab unki baat kaun nakarega (SRK sir had been thinking about this for quite some time, as far as I know. But Siddharth (Anand) bhai was a bit hesitant to offer it since it was a small role after Jewel Thief. But Khan saab being Khan saab, he said, ‘I’ll talk to him.’ Now who could say no to him?.”

He went on to praise Shah Rukh Khan, expressing deep admiration for the superstar. He said, “I really like him. In all my interactions with him — in the five to seven times we've met — starting from Raees, where I shot with him for four to five days, and even after that, whenever we met, he always made me feel like I was the closest person to him. He’s a wonderful human being. He has some amazing qualities. Every time I’ve met him, he’s made me feel important.”

For those who may not know, Jaideep Ahlawat portrayed the main antagonist in Siddharth Anand's Jewel Thief, which starred Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. Alongside his powerful performance, Jaideep also received praise for his impressive dance moves. The film is currently available for streaming on Netflix.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, King also features Suhana Khan and Saurabh Shukla in key roles. According to reports, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Raghav Juyal, and Anil Kapoor are rumored to be part of the cast as well, though no official confirmation has been made yet. A heartfelt letter from the Elite Games Federation has gone viral on social media after the organization formally requested the Government of Maharashtra to grant tax-free status to the latest release, Aamir Khan starrer Sitaare Zameen Par. The Elite Games Federation, a registered not-for-profit under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, is known for promoting sports and supporting para-athletes across the country. The letter further highlighted the organization’s mission to uplift specially-abled communities and expressed its alignment with the themes explored in Sitaare Zameen Par. “Declaring it tax-free in Maharashtra will ensure that it reaches a wider audience, particularly schools, colleges, NGOs, and families who will benefit from its message,” the letter added.

Directed by R. S. Prasanna and jointly produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, Sitaare Zameen Par hit theatres on June 20, 2025. BREAKING: After Sitaare Zameen Par’s HISTORIC Saturday jump, several multiplexes add post-midnight shows at 1:00 am and 3:00 am

Sitaare Zameen Par has managed to do the unthinkable. The advance booking wasn’t upto the mark and the makers, in a unique strategy, decided not to have shows before 11:00 am on the day of release, possibly to avoid negativity over poor occupancy in these shows. The film opened at Rs. 10 crores, which was a fair opening but below par for a star like Aamir Khan. However, the positive word of mouth along with the credibility that Aamir enjoys has finally come into play. The film jumped dramatically on Saturday. The shows of Sunday also began to get full and looking at the demand, the multiplexes had to add post-midnight shows.

The trend of having shows at 1:00 am, 2:00 am and 3:00 am is a post-pandemic phenomenon. The 2021 Diwali biggie Sooryavanshi was the first film to have such shows at night. Later, Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), Drishyam 2 (2022), Gadar 2 (2023), Animal (2023), Pathaan (2023), Jawan (2023), Stree 2 (2024), Chhaava (2025) etc. also got shows allotted at the unearthly hour due to huge turnout. Hence, these shows became synonymous with the fact that the film is doing exceedingly well.

Some of the theatres in Mumbai which added post-midnight shows of Sitaare Zameen Par to cope with the demand are PVR Oberoi Mall Goregaon (1:00 am), PVR Lower Parel (1:00 am), Maxus Kandivali (3:00 am and 6:00 am), PVR Sangam Andheri (1:05 am), Maxus Borivali (1:30 am, 3:00 am and 6:00 am), Metro Inox (1:00 am), PVR Orion Mall Panvel (1:10 am) etc.

Sitaare Zameen Par opened at Rs. 10.70 crores while on Day 2, it is expected to earn around Rs. 20 crores. The advance booking for Sunday is super-strong and a weekend of Rs. 50 crores is now certain. The Saturday trend and demand for post-midnight shows makes it clear that it would hold strongly on Monday as well.

What is also heartening is that on the day of release, Sitaare Zameen Par was performing better mainly in elite cinemas and A centres but now the mass audience has also come out in full force. As a result, a healthy lifetime and solid trending is expected from the perfectionists’ latest release in the long run.

The latest “news” being floated for Allu Arjun fans is that he’s likely to replace Ranveer Singh in the much-anticipated big-screen adaptation of Shaktimaan, the iconic Doordarshan superhero series that aired from 1997 and ran for eight years.

Originally portrayed by Mukesh Khanna, Shaktimaan remains one of India’s most beloved homegrown superheroes. The film adaptation — currently in development — is being written and directed by actor-filmmaker Basil Joseph, who has always had Ranveer Singh in mind for the titular role.

While speculative reports of casting changes surface periodically, with the most recent rumour linking Allu Arjun to the role, a source close to the project has dismissed the chatter outright.

“No one else is doing Shaktimaan. It is Ranveer Singh and no one else. Whoever is spreading rumours of his replacement clearly has their own agenda,” the source stated.

To get clarity, I reached out directly to Basil Joseph, who firmly confirmed, “Shaktimaan will be made only with Ranveer Singh.”

Aamir Khan HITS back at trolls slamming him for remaking a Spanish film into Sitaare Zameen Par: “Sab BAKWAAS baatein hai; since 70s, remakes have worked more than the original. Main yeh daava kar ke keh sakta hoon…I believe in remakes and I’ll do it throughout my life”

During an interaction with select group of journalists on June 4, Aamir Khan talked about Sitaare Zameen Par and opened up like never before on the remake factor. His latest release was remade from the 2018 Spanish film, Campeones aka Champions.

Aamir Khan began by saying, “Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) wasn’t my only solo remake before Sitaare Zameen Par. 10-15 of my films have been remade and most of them are super-hits, like Ghajini (2008). Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) was a remake of Romeo And Juliet. For me, it’s a new canvas. Also, so many remakes have worked in India. We are in 2025 now. If you start counting from the 1970s, toh aapko remakes zyada milegi original material se. Main yeh daava kar ke keh sakta hoon. Hence, its only the trolls (who are spreading negativity over the remake factor). Some of our biggest hits are remakes. And if cut and paste is so easy, toh fir aap kar lo. But its not cut and paste. You have to infuse life into it.”

He added, “If remaking is such a sin, then let’s forget Shakespeare. Why are we still adapting his works? Hence, yeh sab bakwaas baatein hai. I believe in remakes, and I’ll do it throughout my life. Whenever I come across a promising material, I’ll remake it. Why shouldn’t I? If you don’t want to watch it, please don’t it. That’s your choice. It’s my choice to work on the remake.”

He further told the journalists, “I saw such a beautiful film in Spanish. How many of you will watch the Spanish original? I don’t think you guys must have watched any Spanish film in your life. Ek aadh dekhi hogi. If I decide that I shouldn’t remake, then should I drop making a film on such a beautiful topic which will sensitize our audience? If, for instance, some filmmaker in Iceland makes a film, does this mean that no on in the world can remake it? Kya mazaak kar rahe ho yaar! The impact that the Spanish original had in the home market, I want that to happen in India as well.”

Aamir Khan then asked a journalist, “Have you tried Spanish film? Did you enjoy?” She replied, “I like Indian food.” Aamir immediately replied, “See, you like desi food! Like I don’t like aubergine but I prefer baingan ka bharta. I also like desi food. I love dal chawal; I eat it with my hands. The same applies for remakes. I am adapting a good story in the Indian context and I am presenting you as per the taste you prefer.”

Aamir got teary-eyed as he exulted, “When you were 7 or 8 years old, you must have attended birthday party in your society or extended family. You must have been excited to have cake and play with balloons. Now imagine that you are 7 years old and you have Down Syndrome or Autism. You are not being called for birthday parties. You ask your mother, ‘Why wasn’t I invited for the bash?’. What will your mother answer? Will she have the heart to say, ‘They don’t want you there’.”

Aamir Khan apologized for getting emotional. He continued, “So, should we change this situation or not? Hence, I made this film. Yet, some would say ‘Aamir is again remaking’. Arre, what Aamir Khan is making is very important, bhai. Aap dekho toh sahi.”

R. Madhavan and wife Sarita rent out BKC apartment worth Rs 17.5 crores; flat to fetch estimated Rs 1.6 crores rental income over 2 years

Indian actor R. Madhavan and wife Sarita have given on rent a co-owned residential apartment located in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex for a starting monthly rent of Rs. 6.50 lakh, according to property registration documents reviewed by real estate platform squareyards.com on the website of the Inspector General of Registration (IGR). The leave and license agreement was officially registered in June 2025.

Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) is a planned commercial hub in Mumbai, developed to ease congestion in traditional business districts. It hosts a concentration of financial institutions, multinational companies, and consulates, making it one of the city’s most sought-after office markets. While primarily commercial, the surrounding areas have seen high-end residential development driven by proximity and infrastructure. Strong connectivity and consistent demand continue to keep property values elevated across segments.

According to property registration documents accessed by Square Yards, R. Madhavan and his wife Sarita have rented out a residential unit located in Signia Pearl, Bandra Kurla Complex. The rental agreement includes a security deposit of Rs. 39 lakh and was registered with a stamp duty of Rs. 47,000 and registration charges of Rs. 1,000.

As per Square Yards’ analysis, the lease tenure spans 24 months (two years), starting from the first week of June 2025, with a lock-in period of 16 months. The monthly rent starts at Rs. 6.50 lakh in the first year and escalates by 5% to approximately Rs. 6.83 lakh in the second year. Over the full term, the cumulative rental value is estimated at approximately Rs. 1.60 crore.

Madhavan and his wife acquired this property—measuring 388.55 sq. m. (~4,182 sq. ft.)—for a total value of Rs. 17.50 crore in July 2024. Based on the agreed rental terms and acquisition cost, the gross rental yield stands at approximately 4.5% for the first year, rising to around 4.7% in the second year of the lease.

R. Madhavan is an Indian actor and filmmaker known for his work predominantly in Tamil and Hindi cinema, with appearances in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and English films as well. He established himself with successful Tamil films like Minnale (2001), Kannathil Muthamittal (2002), Anbe Sivam (2003), and Aaytha Ezhuthu (2004), while also making a mark in Hindi cinema with notable roles in Rang De Basanti (2006), Guru (2007), and the blockbuster 3 Idiots (2009). As of 2025, Madhavan remains actively involved in multiple film projects, following his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.

36 Stars, no location: Ahmed Khan on why Welcome to the Jungle hit a roadblock; clears air on money rumours

Amid growing speculation about financial troubles surrounding producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s ambitious film Welcome to the Jungle, director Ahmed Khan has spoken exclusively to this writer about the real reason behind the film’s delay.

“We’ve already shot two lengthy schedules. We were supposed to shoot in Kashmir in June for a third, long schedule. That would have brought us close to completing the film. But then the Pahalgam tragedy happened. The Kashmir schedule had to be cancelled,” reveals Ahmed.

The team is now exploring alternative locations.

“It could be any similar hinterland. We may shoot in Kullu or Himachal Pradesh. But going back to Kashmir is not feasible. We have to plan the schedule from scratch in another location. Coordinating the dates of thirty-six actors again is no small task. We’re working on it,” he says.

As for reports of financial trouble and non-payment on the sets, Ahmed clarifies, “I have no idea about that. All financial matters are handled by the producer, Firoz Nadiadwala.”

Is Ed Sheeran making his Bollywood singing debut in Shah Rukh Khan’s King? Here’s what we know!

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has confirmed that he has recorded a Hindi track for an upcoming Shah Rukh Khan film, sparking a wave of speculation online. The revelation came in a behind-the-scenes video shared during the making of his latest single ‘Sapphire,’ which already featured a surprise cameo from the Bollywood superstar himself.

While the name of the film hasn’t been officially announced, fans are convinced that the project in question is King — Shah Rukh Khan’s next big theatrical release, directed by Siddharth Anand. The project has remained tightly under wraps since its announcement, but Sheeran’s comments and the recent developments around ‘Sapphire’ are now being viewed as strong indicators of a deeper collaboration.

After Ed Sheeran posted a behind-the-scenes video on his YouTube channel, a fan noticed a short segment where he’s seen recording the Punjabi version of his song 'Sapphire' with Arijit Singh. A fan club later shared this clip on Instagram, writing, “Can’t wait for the full Punjabi version! Check out the BTS on Ed’s YouTube channel. Ed Sheeran himself replied to the post and cleared the confusion. He wrote, “The Hindi song is for a Bollywood movie that Shah Rukh Khan is doing. This is the Punjabi version of Sapphire with Arijit. I’m just doing all languages at this point.”

It’s worth noting that Shah Rukh Khan’s appearance in ‘Sapphire’ has already stirred considerable buzz. The video also features Indian playback singer Arijit Singh.

This isn’t Ed Sheeran’s first brush with India. He recently got a Punjabi tattoo that says "Neelam," which translates to "sapphire" in English. During his recent tour in India, Sheeran mentioned how much he enjoys the vibrancy of Indian music, and there’s growing chatter that he might explore more collaborations within Indian cinema in the future.

SCOOP: Teaser of Junaid Khan-Sai Pallavi’s next to be attached with Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par

The release of Aamir Khan-Genelia Deshmukh starrer Sitaare Zameen Par is less than 48 hours away and the excitement is tremendous. If sources are to be believed, then the excitement might go a bit higher as the asset of an interesting upcoming film is attached to the film’s print.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The teaser of the next film of Aamir Khan Productions (AKP), starring Aamir’s son Junaid and South star Sai Pallavi, will be attached to Sitaare Zameen Par. The film is ready and up for release and Aamir and his team felt that Sitaare Zameen Par would be the right way to let the world know about it. Sitaare Zameen Par is expected to have a huge turnout and hence, a huge section of moviegoers will get acquainted with Junaid and Sai’s movie.”

There have been speculations that the Junaid Khan-Sai Pallavi starrer has been titled Ek Din and that it is a remake of the Korean film One Day (2011) but there has been no confirmation on the same.

The film was shot during the beautiful Snow Festival in the town of Sapporo, Japan and hence it promises to be a visual treat to the moviegoers. Images of Junaid and Sai in the Far East country got leaked during the Japan schedule, which took place in early 2024. The love story went on floors in December 2023 in Mumbai.

Earlier this year, there were reports that Aamir Khan was planning to release the film on Valentine’s Day. However, he decided to postpone the release after the makers of Junaid’s debut theatrical venture, Loveyapa, decided to bring the romcom on February 7. It co-starred Khushi Kapoor.

The Junaid Khan-Sai Pallavi starrer has been directed by Sunil Pandey. Interestingly, Junaid and Sunil have shot for one more film, also produced by Aamir Khan Productions, called Pritam Pyare.
